Julia Tierney
CFP®, Director of Legacy Planning, Lead Advisor, Partner

Who discovers their future career while playing Monopoly as a kid? Julia, that’s who. While other kids snapped up properties without a second thought, Julia would make strategic purchases and then stash her extra cash under the board while she planned her next move. Years later, when she discovered financial planning, the same strategic mindset clicked into place, leading her to a career helping families secure their financial futures.
Julia started her career in financial services in 2009 and joined the Vista team in 2013. She’s an example of how Vista champions working parents; in an 18-month span, Julia had her first child, was promoted to director of legacy planning, and became a partner of the firm. Now a mom of two, Julia combines her passion for finance with helping people. She guides clients to align their giving with the values, connect their retirement goals with purpose, and leave a legacy through thoughtful estate planning.
A graduate of the University of Oregon Lundquist College of Business, Julia earned her degree in business administration. She has also earned the Certified Financial PlannerTM (CFP®) designation. She’s a true proponent of giving back to the community, and she’s proud to serve as the treasurer for Portland’s Dougy Center, which supports grieving kids, teens, and their families.
Something you may not know about Julia: She played lacrosse through high school and club lacrosse in college. She likes how women’s lacrosse is different from men’s — there’s no physical contact, making it a game of finesse.
