Industry Veteran and Respected Leader Dougal Williams Named CEO of Vista Capital Partners

Portland, Oregon – Wealth management firm Vista Capital Partners (“Vista”) today announced industry veteran and respected leader Dougal Williams as its new chief executive officer (CEO). Williams fills the role held previously by Doug Johanson, who now serves as chairman of the board of directors.

Williams has served in various roles with Vista since 2004, most recently as chief wealth officer and lead advisor. In his more than 20 years advising individual, corporate, and non-profit clients, Dougal has been a vocal champion for Vista’s evidence-based approach to investing which decries conventional stock-picking and market timing. In addition to his role as CEO, Williams will continue to lead the firm’s wealth committee.

“Dougal’s collective experience at Vista – as advisor, lead advisor, chief investment officer, and chief wealth officer—make him uniquely qualified to lead Vista as we strive to become Oregon’s most admired wealth management firm,” said Johanson. “Not only is Dougal a respected thought leader in our industry, he is a valued member of our marketing, client service, and executive committees. He knows our business inside and out and cares deeply about our clients’ and employees’ success.”

“I am excited to lead Vista into this next chapter, as we work to deliver successful investment experiences for a growing community of clients,” said Dougal Williams. “Our mission is to build happier and more prosperous lives, and in doing so we strive to make a meaningful and lasting impact on our community. I look forward to leading our talented team of professionals who make Vista their career destination.”

Williams holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) designation, and is a graduate of the University of Oregon, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in Economics and Spanish. He is a past president of the CFA Society Portland, and a former board member of Urban Gleaners and The Deschutes Land Trust.

Company co-founders Doug Johanson and Michael O’Reilly remain involved in the business and the company remains 100 percent employee owned, with eleven owner-partners. The Vista executive committee is rounded out with seasoned leadership, including:

  • John Convery, chief operating officer and partner
  • Rob Greenman, chief growth officer and partner
  • Tana Thomson, chief people officer and partner
  • Lindsey Williams, chief client officer and partner
