Andy Darkins
CFP®, Director of Client Experience, Partner

Ask Andy about passive investing, and he’ll invariably tell you he believes in Vista’s approach just as much as he believes the sun will come up tomorrow. That’s a pretty strong statement for someone known for his sense of humor around the office – but he’s completely serious.
After studying politics and linebacking for the Oregon State University Beavers, Andy worked on a series of political campaigns around the country. The nomadic lifestyle became tiresome after a while, and Andy realized he probably needed to start saving for his own retirement. That realization led him to The Little Book of Common Sense Investing by John Bogle, widely considered to be the father of the index fund. The book lit Andy’s fire for passive investing, and it eventually led him to pursue financial services as a career. He joined the Vista Capital Partners team in 2016.
Andy earned his Bachelor of Science degree at OSU. He has also passed the Series 65 securities exam and completed the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM (CFP®) designation. He has been honored to serve as the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors at Fora Health Treatment and Recovery in Portland.
Outside of work, Andy loves spending time with his wife and their two small daughters.
Something you may not know about Andy: He was named first-team All-Pac 10 Academic while a football player at Oregon State University.
